“…La gota o tizón tardío (Phytophthora infestans) produce manchas en el borde de las hojas inferiores, luego se tornan de apariencia húmeda y posteriormente se defolia la planta, bajo condiciones de alta humedad y baja temperatura sobre el envés de la hoja y alrededor de la mancha aparecen pelusillas blancas que corresponden a la fructificación del hongo, para su control se recomienda la aplicación preventiva de fungicidas (Manzate, Dithane M-45, Antracol, etc). La roya (Puccinia pittieriana) es una enfermedad limitada a zonas de páramo, sus síntomas se caracterizan por la aparición de manchitas cloróticas sobre el haz de las hojas, al envés de las mismas se desarrollan unas pústulas pardo amarillentas en cuyo interior se albergan las teleutosporas, algunos fungicidas a base de cobre han dado buenos resultados para su control. …”
