Resistance and susceptibility QTL identified in a rice MAGIC population by screening with a minor-effect virulence factor from Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae
Publicado 2021“…Of these, 21 showed polymorphisms in the predicted effector binding element (EBE) site and 23 lost the EBE sequence altogether. Inoculation and bioinformatics studies suggest that the Tal7b target in one of the Tal7b-specific QTL, qBB-tal7b-8, is a disease susceptibility gene and that the resistance mechanism for this locus may be through loss of susceptibility. …”

Publicado 2018“…A new rice panel, the Bengal and Assam Aus Panel (BAAP) of 266 aus accessions was generated with~2 million informative SNPs obtained using skim sequencing at ~4x depth. The BAAP was grown in the field in Bangladesh in the ‘boro’ season under both continuously flooded and Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) irrigation during 2013 and 2014 in Mymensingh and during 2014 in Madhupur. …”

Loci and natural alleles underlying robust roots and adaptive domestication of upland ecotype rice in aerobic conditions
Publicado 2018“…A robust (long and thick) root system is characteristic of upland japonica rice adapted to drought conditions. Using deep sequencing and large scale phenotyping data of 795 rice accessions and an integrated strategy combining results from high resolution mapping by GWAS and linkage mapping, comprehensive analyses of genomic, transcriptomic and haplotype data, we identified large numbers of QTLs affecting rice root length and thickness (RL and RT) and shortlisted relatively few candidate genes for many of the identified small-effect QTLs. …”

RNA-Seq analysis reveals insight into enhanced rice Xa7-mediated bacterial blight resistance at high temperature
Publicado 2017“…Genes responsive to salicylic acid, an important plant hormone for disease resistance, were down-regulated by high temperature during both the susceptible and resistant interactions, suggesting that enhanced Xa7-mediated resistance at high temperature is not dependent on salicylic acid signaling. A DNA sequence motif similar to known abscisic acid-responsive cis-regulatory elements was identified in the promoter region upstream of genes up-regulated in susceptible but down-regulated in resistant interactions. …”

Rice Pi5-mediated resistance to Magnaporthe oryzae requires the presence of two coiled-coil-nucleotide-binding-leucine-rich repeat genes
Publicado 2009“…Genetic and phenotypic analyses of 2014 F2 progeny from a mapping population derived from a cross between IR50, a susceptible rice cultivar, and the RIL260 line carrying Pi5 enabled us to narrow down the Pi5 locus to a 130-kb interval. Sequence analysis of this genomic region identified two candidate genes, Pi5-1 and Pi5-2, which encode proteins carrying three motifs characteristic of R genes: an N-terminal coiled-coil (CC) motif, a nucleotide-binding (NB) domain, and a leucine-rich repeat (LRR) motif. …”
