Genetic structure of a phytophagous mite species affected by crop practices: the case of Tetranychus urticae in clementine mandarins
Publicado 2017“…Crop management practices can affect the population dynamics of this mite and, consequently, its impact on the orchard. Microsatellite markers were used to study mite population genetics from two commercial orchards which had been managed differently following Integrated Pest Management (IPM) or Organic Pest Management (OPM) schemes during four consecutive years. …”

Recovery of Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. savastanoi from symptomless shoots of naturally infected olive trees
Publicado 2017“…Seasonal dynamics of Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. savastanoi (Psv) on stems and leaves from symptomless shoots of naturally infected olive trees was monitored in Spanish olive orchards. Data inferred from the comparison between washing of leaves and dilution-plating versus leaf printing of individual leaves suggested that Psv population sizes varied by over several orders of magnitude, among leaves sampled concurrently from the same shoot. …”

Publicado 2017“…Parasitoids were surveyed and quantified in Spanish citrus orchards between 2005 and 2009. Aphytis melinus DeBach (87.1%) resulted as the dominant species, followed by Aphytis chrysomphali (Mercet) (15.9%), Encarsia perniciosi (Tower) (2.4%) and Aphycus hederaceus (Westwood) (0.004%). …”

Application of a GIS-AF/RF model to assess the risk of herbicide leaching in a citrus-growing area of the Valencia Community, Spain
Publicado 2017“…We integrated an index-based attenuation factor/retardation factor (AF/RF) model into a GIS to evaluate the risk of leaching of the most frequently applied herbicides (glyphosate, diuron, diquat, bromacil, simazine, linuron, terbuthylazine, and terbumeton) used in citrus orchards of the Valencia Community, Spain. The GIS-model system was applied to a region of 33,800 ha located near Valencia City. …”

Pseudomonas Savastanoi Endophytic Bacteria in Olive Tree Knots and Antagonistic Potential of Strains of Pseudomonas Fluorescens and Bacillus Subtilis
Publicado 2017“…Forty nine endophytic bacterial isolates were obtained from knots on olive sterns induced by Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. savastanoi (Pss) and from symptomless leaves of olive trees naturally infected with Pss from six orchards from different locations in Tunisia. Populations of all endophytic bacteria were higher in knots (1-14 10(6) CFU/g) than in leaves (5-21 10(4) CFU/g). …”

Influence of Rootstock on Citrus Tree Growth: Effects on Photosynthesis and Carbohydrate Distribution, Plant Size, Yield, Fruit Quality, and Dwarfing Genotypes
Publicado 2020“…So, rootstock choice is one of the most important decisions a grower makes when establishing commercial citrus orchards. In this chapter, we attempted to provide an overview of the response in terms of plant growth, fruit quality and yield parameters of several citrus cultivar trees grafted onto different commercial rootstocks, plus new hybrids and some dwarfing genotypes, to reduce costs in some cultural practices. …”

Detection of a Tristeza-Seedling Yellows Strain in Spain
Publicado 2021“…In late 1984, some growers were found to be using budwood of a very early maturing satsuma mandarin of uncertain origin, for topworking citrus orchards near Valencia. Indexing of this material showed that it was infected with a very severe strain of citrus tristeza virus (CTV). …”

Light Quality Environment and Photomorphological Responses of Young Olive Trees
Publicado 2022“…Tree densities have increased greatly in olive orchards over the last few decades. In many annual crop species, increased density reduces the horizontal red/far-red (R/FR) and blue/green (B/G) ratios during canopy development even before direct shading occurs, and such changes are known to alter plant morphology. …”

Comparative toxicity of pesticides in three phytoseiid mites with different life-style occurring in citrus: Euseius stipulatus, Neoseiulus californicus and Phytoseiulus persimilis
Publicado 2017“…Conservation and augmentative biological control strategies have been developed to take full advantage of the natural enemies that occur in Spanish citrus orchards. Among them, the predatory mites Euseius stipulatus, Neoseiulus californicus and Phytoseiulus persimilis play an important role in the biological control of tetranychid mites. …”

Effects of temperature on development and survival of Cirrospilus sp. near lyncus (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), parasitoid of Phyllocnistis citrella (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae)
Publicado 2017“…Because P. citrella populations usually collapse at the beginning of winter, and do not become conspicuous until the end of spring, provision of alternative hosts within citrus orchards would presumably favor the winter permanence of opportunistic C. sp. near lyncus, and thus increase the impact of this parasitoid early in the season, when parasitism on P. citrella is very low.…”
