Short- and long-term responses to seasonal drought in ponderosa pines growing at different plantation densities in Patagonia, South America
Publicado 2017“…The following variables were studied: branch and stem hydraulic conductivity, canopy and stomatal conductance (gc, gs), transpiration (E), photosynthesis (Amax), wood δ13C (as a proxy of intrinsic WUE), leaf to sapwood area ratio (AL:As) and growth in the biggest (B) and the smallest (S) trees of high (H) and low (L) density stands. AL:As was positively correlated with tree size and negatively correlated with competition level, increasing leaf hydraulic conductance in H trees. …”

Higher establishment of nonnative trees with increased harvest intensity in strip cuttings
Publicado 2024“…We conducted this study in a mixed forest dominated by Nothofagus antarctica, where we applied four strip harvesting levels: 0% (control), 30%, 50% and 70% percentage of vegetation removal in eight plots (1417.5 m2 each plot) Inside those plots, we had a total of 24 subplots (3 sites × 8 plots) were we sowed seeds of a total of six tree species, that can form dominant stands in the studied region. Three species were nonnative invasives in the region (Pinus ponderosa, Pinus contorta and Pseudotsuga mensiezii), and the other three were native species (Austrocedrus chilensis, Nothofagus obliqua and Araucaria araucana). …”

The allocation of assimilated carbon to shoot growth: in situ assessment in natural grasslands reveals nitrogen effects and interspecific differences
Publicado 2018“…We used a mobile facility to perform steady-state 13C-labeling of field stands to quantify, in winter and autumn, the daily relative photosynthesis rate (RPR~tracer assimilated over one light-period) and A shoot (~tracer remaining in shoots after a 100 degree days chase period) in four individual species with contrasting morpho-physiological characteristics coexisting in a temperate grassland of Argentina, either fertilized or not with nitrogen, and either cut intermittently or grazed continuously. …”
