  1. International waters: Identifying basins at risk por Wolf, Aaron T., Yoffe, Shira B., Giordano, Mark

    Publicado 2003
“…These basins include: the Ganges-Brahmaputra, Han, Incomati, Kunene, Kura-Araks, Lake Chad, La Plata, Lempa, Limpopo, Mekong, Ob (Ertis), Okavango, Orange, Salween, Senegal, Tumen and Zambezi. We then identify “red flags,” or markers related to these indicators, which might be monitored in the future. Finally, recognizing that history-based indicators may lose validity over time in a rapidly changing world, we ask, “what about the future, which may look nothing like the past,” and focus on four topics: new technologies for negotiation and management; globalization, privatization and the WTO; the geopolitics of desalination; and the changing sources of water and the changing nature of conflict.…”

Identifying determinants, pressures and trade-offs of crop residue use in mixed smallholder farms in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia por Valbuena, Diego, Homann-Kee Tui, Sabine, Erenstein, Olaf, Teufel, Nils, Duncan, Alan J., Abdoulaye, Tahirou, Swain, Braja B., Mekonnen, Kindu, Germaine, I., Gerard, Bruno G.

    Publicado 2015
“…In sites with low cereal production and high livestock feed demand, pressures and trade-offs depend on the availability of better feed resources. Finally, sites with high cereal production and high livestock feed demand have been able to fulfil most of the demand for CR, limiting pressures and trade-offs. …”

  6. Moving Ethiopian smallholder dairy along a sustainable commercialization path: missing links in the innovation systems por Lemma, T., Tegegne, Azage, Puskur, Ranjitha, Hoekstra, Dirk

    Publicado 2008
“…The recommendations forwarded to get Ethiopian smallholder dairying moving along a sustainable commercialization path encompass: improving economic incentives to encourage innovation; organizing dairy producers and linking them with vertically coordinated value chain; pursuing holistic approach to achieving sustainable technological innovation to increase supply response; supporting private sector development and promoting public-private partnership, creatively using the expanding ICT infrastructure as a means for facilitating multi-stakeholder interaction and knowledge management; formulating appropriate and adaptive policy for the sub-sector development; along with complementary national strategy capable of providing clear roadmap; guiding spatially targeted investment and intervention decisions; and defining principles for pragmatic participation, inter-organizational interaction and coordination. Finally, strengthening commodity-based local - woreda/milkshed- innovation systems capacity with value chain perspective is underlined. …”

  7. Picturing impact of the PEDIGREA program: a case study from Indramayu, Indonesia por Wienarto, Nugroho, Kuswara, Engkus, Hakim, Arief

    Publicado 2005
“…The process distinguishes three steps: a) a three days workshop with farmer representatives from each group/village to discuss the concept of project results and impacts, to learn how to take useful photographs, and to make a work plan of objects and situations for each village to be photographed; b) a two week period of activities in each village to take photos, to select the interesting pictures, and to write the explanatory notes for each of the photos; c) a three days workshop to finalize the notes for each picture, to reflect on the program impacts and farmer’s benefits, to evaluate the impact study process, and to develop follow-up plan for each group/village. …”

    Publicado 2017
“…These findings are of direct public health relevance and call for upgrading Hanoi's wastewater system to reduce microbial contamination. Finally, this study presents a first example on how to link QMRA to a sanitation safety planning (SSP) approach in an Asian context and its findings are interesting in the frame of Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) #6.…”
