Agricultural mechanisation and child labour in developing countries
Publicado 2021“…Second, while the prevalence of child labour in agriculture (i.e., when productive engagement is detrimental to schooling and child growth) is much lower (at 10% or less in seven countries), they are still sizable in absolute terms; at least 6 million children in these countries partake in agricultural work at the expense of opportunities in adulthood. Third, agricultural mechanization, reflected in farm household’s use of machinery such as tractors, significantly reduces the likelihood of use of children’s labour and increases school attendance. …”

Drivers of adolescents’ food choices: exploring the influence of the school food environment
Publicado 2024“…Adolescence is one of the critical stages of life as dietary behaviors developed during this period are likely to be carried into adulthood. Therefore, this study aimed to identify key drivers of food choices among adolescents, particularly within the school food environment where they spend a substantial amount of their time. …”

The association between animal source foods and stunting in children aged 6 months to 5 years: A systematic review
Publicado 2017“…Stunting is a measure of failure to reach linear growth potential and can be used as an indicator of reductions in neurodevelopment and cognitive function, elevated risk of morbidity and mortality in childhood and chronic disease in adulthood. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the consumption of animal source foods (ASF) and stunting in low- and middle-income countries. …”

Study of the life cycle of Amblyomma dubitatum (Acari: Ixodidae) based on field and laboratory data
Publicado 2018“…This pattern represents a life cycle with one generation per year with most of the ticks reaching adulthood during the warmest months. The analysis of the effect of the photoperiod on the development of A. dubitatum showed no indication of morphogenetic diapause. …”

Grb10 and developmental programming: evaluation of a maternal diet restriction model during gestation
Publicado 2015“…This set-up also allowed to record any hitherto unknown effects of Grb10 on growth induced by metabolic and endocrinological changes in adulthood such as pregnancy. An early indication of the dietary restriction effects on the offspring was also provided by weighing 60 pups at embryonic day 18.5 (e.g. one day before birth). …”

Accounting for the rapid reduction of child stunting in Tanzania over 2005-2016
Publicado 2019“…Chronic undernutrition in early childhood - often indicated by stunting - has highly detrimental consequences for long-term physical and cognitive development, school attendance and performance, and labor productivity and wages in adulthood. Understanding how countries have been able to successfully reduce stunting prevalence, and how they can accelerate this success in the future, are therefore critically important research questions. …”
