Regionalization of a conceptual rainfall runoff model based on similarity of the flow duration curve: a case study from Karkheh River Basin, Iran. [Abstract only].
Publicado 2008“…FDCs are frequently used for comparing the response of gauged catchments and for estimating hydrological indices for ungauged catchments, but their potential use for the regionalization of conceptual rainfall runoff models to ungauged catchments needs to be explored and is a subject of this paper. FDCs for ungauged basins are defined using developed regional regression relationships between the parameters of a logarithmic FDC model and physiographic catchment characteristics of eleven gauged catchments. …”

Review of seasonal climate forecasting for agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa
Publicado 2011“…Evidence from a combination of understanding of how climatic uncertainty impacts agriculture, modelbased ex-ante analyses, subjective expressions of demand or value, and the few well-documented evaluations of actual use and resulting benefit suggests that seasonal forecasts may have considerable potential to improve agriculturalmanagement and rural livelihoods. However, constraints related to legitimacy, salience, access, understanding, capacity to respond and data scarcity have so far limited the widespread use and benefit from seasonal prediction among smallholder farmers. …”

Towards better-informed consent: Research with livestock-keepers and informal traders in East Africa
Publicado 2016“…Little has been published on informed consent beyond human-subject research. This paper outlines two studies on informed consent, for research identifying diseases of animal and human importance, within smallholder livestock value chains.Firstly, a randomized independent-group study compared three communication tools (written, cartoons, and photographs) for informing 22 Tanzanian livestock-keepers before seeking their consent.A significant difference in comprehension and engagement in the informed-consent process was found between tools, and cartoons had the highest (i.e. best combined comprehension and engagement) scores. Most (21 out of 22) farmers answered half or more the questions correctly, but none were able to answer all questions. …”
