  1. The effect of afforestation on water infiltration in the tropics: systematic review and meta-analysis por Ilstedt, Ulrik, Malmer, A., Verbeeten, E., Murdiyarso, Daniel

    Publicado 2007
“…For the meta-analysis, the most common problems resulting in exclusion of otherwise relevant experiments were issues with the experimental design, and the absence of statistics (variances and replicates). Even considering the studies that were excluded in the meta analysis (a total of six), the low number of studies examining the effects of afforestation is a severe problem with respect to modelling and examining the underlying processes associated with the full range of different edaphic situations, different species and different methods of establishment.…”

“…We assess and compare the prospects of mitigating climate change through emission reductions from forestry and agriculture in the Brazilian Amazon. We use official statistics, literature, and case study material from both old and new colonization frontiers to identify the scope for emission reductions, in terms of potential additionality, opportunity costs, technological complexity, transaction costs, and risks of economic and environmental spillover effects. …”

    Publicado 2009
“…We used spatially explicit digital data on land use, digitised aerial photographs, field surveys of landscape elements and agricultural statistics. A factor analysis suggests that there are three relevant axes, where the first can be interpreted as describing the intensity of land use while the other two are connected to landscape structure and amount of small patches of semi-natural habitat. …”

  20. Importance of considering technology growth in impact assessments of climate change on agriculture por Aggarwal, Pramod K., Vyas, Shalika, Thornton, Philip K., Campbell, Bruce M., Kropff, Martin

    Publicado 2019
“…We carry out a systematic global review and compare published projections of climate change impacts from 34 studies and ∼4500 data points for the 2020s for maize, rice and wheat at country level with observed and forecasted national crop yields for the same period based on available global crop statistics. We find that observed yield changes are considerably higher than projected yield changes arising from climate change because technological improvements appear to have a large yield-enhancing impact compared with the negative effects of climate change, at least in the short term. …”
