Discovery of an amylose-free starch mutant in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz)
Publicado 2007“…A large number of self-pollinations have been made in search of useful recessive traits. During 2006 harvests an S1 plant produced roots that stained brownish-red when treated with an iodine solution, suggesting that it had lower-than-normal levels of amylose in its starch. …”

Cassava haplotype map highlights fixation of deleterious mutations during clonal propagation
Publicado 2017“…We found that (i) although domestication has modified starch and ketone metabolism pathways to allow for human consumption, the concomitant bottleneck and clonal propagation have resulted in a large proportion of fixed deleterious amino acid changes, increased the number of deleterious alleles by 26%, and shifted the mutational burden toward common variants; (ii) deleterious mutations have been ineffectively purged, owing to limited recombination in the cassava genome; (iii) recent breeding efforts have maintained yield by masking the most damaging recessive mutations in the heterozygous state but have been unable to purge the mutation burden; such purging should be a key target in future cassava breeding.…”

Effect of the black sigatoka resistance locus bs1 and ploidy level on fruit and bunch traits of plantain-banana hybrids

Effect of the parthenocarpy gene P1 and ploidy in bunch and fruit traits of plantain and banana hybrids
Publicado 1995“…Linear correlation and regression analyses revealed that bunch weight and fruit weight and size were positively influenced by both ploidy increases and change of recessive to dominant alleles at the P1 locus. Moreover, significant multiple regression models, including ploidy and number of copies of the P1 allele as independent variables, accounted for most of the phenotypic variation for bunch and fruit traits. …”

Sources of resistance to Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola races in Phaseolus vulgaris
Publicado 1996“…It is possible that several of the accessions in this category carry the recessive gene derived from PI 150414. Other accessions were of unknown parentage and may represent new sources of quantitative, potentially race non-specific, resistance. …”

Understanding circularity and transformative approaches and their role in achieving sustainability
Publicado 2024“…However, the reactive interventions that included the lockdowns implemented during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic later resulted in job losses, company closures, debts, and economic recessions, demonstrating that linear models over-emphasise a limited set of system attributes, mainly efficiency, at the expense of other critical aspects. …”

Characterization of a putative rice mutant for reaction to rice tungro disease
Publicado 2008“…All F1 plants were susceptible to RTSV, whereas F2 and F3 progenies segregated into resistant and susceptible phenotypes in a 1:3 ratio, indicating that the resistance is controlled by a single recessive locus. Most of the F3 lines resistant to RTSV were also GLH resistant, suggesting that the resistance to RTSV and GLH was governed by the same locus. …”
