“…Así mismo, el Laboratorio de Biología Molecular de Plantas y Virus del Centro de Investigación en Biología Celular y Molecular (Universidad de Costa Rica), se encuentra significativamente avanzado en el diagnóstico y caracterización de gem~inivirus, aportando con investigaciones que han permitido definir varios geminivirus presentes en Costa Rica y otras latitudes. Los conocimientos adquiridos, tanto en moscas blancas como en geminivirus, han permitido: 1.- Implementar los procedimientos de diagnóstico molecular de geminivirus en el Laboratorio de Virología del Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero. 2.- Implementar claves taxonómicas para el reconocimiento de moscas blancas en los Laboratorios de Entomología del Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero. 3.- Capacitar a los funcionarios del SAG involucrados en el Proyecto Vigilancia Fitosanitaria en los síntomas asociados a geminivirus en el campo en diversos hospederos. 4.- Capacitar al sector productor en el reconocimiento de moscas blancas y geminivirus, daños asociados e importancia de las plagas. 5.- Dar a conocer al sector productor las alternativas de manejo integrado de moscas blancas a fin de que sean implementadas aquellas más promisorias en los sectores comprometidos.…”
