  3. Hydrological consequences of armed conflicts and massive migrations in the Lower Mekong Basin over the second half of the 20th Century. [Abstract only]. por Lacombe, Guillaume, Pierret, Alain, Hoanh, Chu Thai, Sengtaheuanghoung, Oloth

    Publicado 2010
“…These hydrological shifts are most likely attributed to permanent changes in the vegetation cover, either denser in the northern sub-catchment (in response to the extensive abandonment of cultivated lands) or sparser in the southern catchment (as a result of bomb-degraded soil conditions). These results illustrate the high responsiveness of flow regime to forest cover changes in tropical areas where deforestation is expected to perpetuate at a high rate over the coming decades.…”

  6. Simulating potential growth and yield of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) with PALMSIM: Model description, evaluation and application por Hoffmann, M.P., Castañeda Vera, A., Wijk, Mark T. van, Giller, Kenneth E., Oberthür, Thomas, Donough, Christopher R., Whitbread, Anthony M.

    Publicado 2014
“…While we acknowledge that, depending on the soils and climatic environment, yields may be often water limited, we suggest a relatively simple physiological approach to simulate potential yield, which can be usefully applied to high rainfall environments and is considered as a first step in developing an oil palm model that also simulates water-limited potential yield. To illustrate the application possibilities of the model, PALMSIM was used to create a potential yield map for Indonesia and Malaysia by simulating the growth and yield at a resolution of 0.1 . …”

    Publicado 2014
“…The sources of errors were the error in the temperature forecasts and the fact that the effects of wind speed and relative humidity were not considered in the HS model. The applications illustrated that the proposed method could provide daily ET0forecasts with a certain degree of accuracy for real-time irrigation forecasts.…”

    Publicado 2014
“…These are important results, demonstrating that VFCWs can operate efficiently at multiple hydraulic loadings, and are hence adaptable to different sized treatment schemes. It also illustrates that if plant production for fodder is a goal, increased loading rates are preferable as they achieve overall treatment goals and result in greater plant production.…”

    Publicado 1993
“…Treatment and genotype interactions were highly significant for all measurements, which shows that differences in productivity between indigenous and crossbred genotypes were greater under supplemented than unsupplemented conditions. These results illustrate the necessity of providing extra inputs for crossbred genotypes to get the full benefit of their greater production potential.…”

    Publicado 2017
“…The frequency distribution of management performance outcomes was evaluated for models incorporating biological and environmental heterogeneity, with the following results. (1) On-farm seed selection can perform as well as certified seed, if the rate of success in selecting healthy plants for seed production is high; (2) when choosing among within-season management strategies, external inoculum can determine the relative usefulness of ‘incidence-altering management’ (affecting the proportion of diseased plants/seeds) and ‘rate-altering management’ (affecting the rate of disease transmission in the field); (3) under severe disease scenarios, where it is difficult to implement management components at high levels of effectiveness, combining management components can be synergistic and keep seed degeneration below a threshold; (4) combining management components can also close the yield gap between average and worst-case scenarios. We also illustrate the potential for expert elicitation to provide parameter estimates when empirical data are unavailable.…”
