Height-diameter allometry and above ground biomass in tropical montane forests: insights from the Albertine Rift in Africa
Publicado 2017“…Tropical montane forests provide an important natural laboratory to test ecological theory. While it is well-known that some aspects of forest structure change with altitude, little is known on the effects of altitude on above ground biomass (AGB), particularly with regard to changing height-diameter allometry. …”

Relation of yields of soybean and maize to sulphur, zinc and copper status of soils under intensifying cropping systems in the tropical savannas of northeast Nigeria
Publicado 2009“…Data were collected on the initial available S, Cu and Zn contents of some samples from 0-15 cm depth from farmers’ compound fields (64) and bush fields (73) in 30 communities across three agro-ecological zones in north-east Nigeria. These were related to the grain yields of soybean and maize varieties from demonstration trials to assess if they are yield determinants of these crops. …”

Inclusion of gender in Africa’s climate change policies and strategies
Publicado 2018“…Drawing upon a common framework/guideline, we examined commonality in policies, while recognizing the complexity in the social, economic and ecological systems of each country. The chapter further assesses the importance of integrating and mainstreaming gender into Africa’s national adaptations plans of actions (NAPAs), and Intended Nationally Distributed Contributions (INDCs), and the need for better gender oriented climate change policies, programs and plans.…”

Heterotic patterns of early maturing maize inbred lines in Strigafree and Strigainfested environments
Publicado 2008“…Three testcross hybrids (TZE-W Pop C0S6Inb50-2-4 x 1368; TZE-W Pop C0S6Inb50-3-4 x 9071 and TZE-WPop C0S6Inb151-1-2 x 9071) had consistently positiveSCA effects in the two environments and are, thereforepotentially good hybrids for both the savanna and forest ecologies.…”

Contribution of Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), rhizobia and metarhizium anisopliae to cowpea production in Cameroon
Publicado 2007“…The objective of this study was to investigate on how the interactions between the microbial syrnbionts (AMF+rhizobia) and the rnycopesticide M. anisopliae can affect the cowpea production in varied agro ecological zones of Cameroon. Cowpea of the Bafia local cultivar was grown from 1999 to 2004 in the Sudano-sahelian (zone-I), Guineasavannah (zone-II), monomodal (zone-IV) and bimodal humid-forest rainfall (zone-V) of Cameroon. …”

Reframing the concept of alternative livelihoods
Publicado 2016“…We therefore recommend use of a sustainable livelihoods approach to understand the role and function of environmentally damaging behaviors within livelihood strategies; differentiate between households in a community that have the greatest environmental impact and those most vulnerable to resource access restrictions to improve intervention targeting; and learn more about the social–ecological system within which household livelihood strategies are embedded. …”

Quantifying variability in maize yield response to nutrient applications in the northern Nigeria Savanna
Publicado 2018“…Diagnostic on-farm nutrient omission trials were conducted over two cropping seasons (2015 and 2016) to assess soil nutrients related constraints to maize yield in the northern Nigerian savanna agro-ecological zone and to quantify their variability. Two sets of trials were conducted side by side, one with an open pollinated maize variety (OPV) and the other one with a hybrid maize variety and each set had six equal treatments laid out in 198 farmers’ fields. …”
