“…The workgroup also identified public health strategies that could be integrated with current agricultural approaches to resolve gaps in current knowledge and ultimately reduce morbidity and mortality associated with the consumption of aflatoxin-contaminated food in the developing world. Four issues that warrant immediate attention were identified: a) quantify the human health impacts and the burden of disease due to aflatoxin exposure; b) compile an inventory, evaluate the efficacy, and disseminate results of ongoing intervention strategies; c) develop and augment the disease surveillance, food monitoring, laboratory, and public health response capacity of affected regions; and d) develop a response protocol that can be used in the event of an outbreak of acute aflatoxicosis. …”

  5. Is exposure to animal feces harmful to child nutrition and health outcomes? A multicountry observational analysis por Headey, Derek D., Nguyen, Phuong Hong, Kim, Sunny S., Rawat, Rahul, Ruel, Marie T., Menon, Purnima

    Publicado 2017
“…Some of this research also hypothesizes that while the more pathogenic bacteria in human excreta may be the more important cause of diarrheal illnesses in young children, animal excreta may be an important reservoir of nonpathogenic bacteria that are still capable of causing the chronic subclinical damage to the gut, which is characterized as EED.15 In this regard, a particular concern is the possibility that young children in the developing world frequently ingest animal feces or fecally contaminated soils. …”
