Genomics-assisted breeding for drought tolerance in cowpea
Publicado 2019“…In a number of crops, molecular markers associated with resistance loci have been identified and are being used in marker assisted breeding. Marker assisted backcrossing (MABC) is the choice when single traits that are simply inherited are to be moved to varieties with superior performance but lacking in the trait being transferred. …”

Assessment of genotyping array performance for genome-wide association studies and imputation in African cattle
Publicado 2022“…Finally, we show that imputation from low-density arrays can perform almost as well as HD arrays, if a two-stage imputation approach is adopted, i.e. first imputing to HD and then to WGS, which can potentially reduce the costs of GWAS.Our results show that the choice of an array should be based on a balance between the objective of the study and the breed/population considered, with the HD and BOS1 arrays being the best choice for both taurine and indicine breeds when performing GWAS, and the GGPF250 being preferable for fine-mapping studies. …”

Establishing a Goat Community-Based Breeding Program in Mali
Publicado 2023“…CBBP has been first implemented in Ethiopia since 2009, in partnership with national actors, namely the Ethiopian National Agricultural Research System (ENARS), with the aim to improve small ruminants’ performances and increasing their productivity in low-income communities and is now being up scaled in Ethiopia and abroad. At the current stage, CBBP is being progressively implemented in Mali under CGIAR’s initiative “Sustainable Animal Productivity for Livelihoods, Nutrition and Gender inclusion (SAPLING)”, having ICARDA, ILRI collaborating with several public, private and professional partners in the country, namely Institut d’Economie Rurale (IER), Farmers’ Associations, National Association for Mandated Veterinarians (ANAVEM), Collective of Veterinarians of Mali (COVEM), Council of Barouéli, Regional Department of Animal Production and Industries of Ségou (DRPIA), Local Service of Animal Production and Industries of Barouéli (SLPIA), Regional Veterinary Services Department of Ségou (DRSV), Malian Association for the Promotion of the Sahel (AMPROS), Veterinary Sector of Barouéli (SV), University of Ségou - Faculty of Agronomy and Animal Medicine (US/FAMA), Tabital Pulaaku International, Union of Cooperative Societies of Breeders of Tamani (USCET), and Livestock - Meat Interprofession (URF Bétail-Viande). …”

Did prior receipt of nutrition-sensitive social protection build resilience to COVID-19 in rural Bangladesh?
Publicado 2021“…. • In November 2021, compared with the control group, former Cash+BCC households report experiencing significantly lower prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity, report a more diverse diet (being significantly more likely to consume eggs, dairy, and fruit in the previous seven days), report a slightly smaller share of main earners being unemployed, and report experiencing significantly less stress. • Our findings suggest that providing poor rural households in Bangladesh with sizable cash transfers of long duration alongside intensive complementary programming, such as nutrition BCC, may help them cope with future shocks. …”
