  1. A participatory framework for prioritizing climate-smart agriculture innovations in rice-based systems: A case study of Mali por Dossou-Yovo, Eliott Ronald, Arouna, Aminou, Benfica, Rui, Mujawamariyac, Gaudiose, Yossad, Rodrigue

    Publicado 2024
“…However, little is known about the best-bet (most appropriate) CSA innovations, and the enabling conditions for their widespread adoption in a given biophysical and socioeconomic context. The objectives of this study were to identify the best-bet CSA innovations and the barriers, incentive mechanisms, and roles of institutions in widespread adoption in the four rice growing environments in Mali (irrigated lowlands, rainfed lowlands, rainfed uplands, and submergence systems). …”

  3. Climate-mediated dynamics of the northern limit of paddy rice in China por Liang, Shefang, Wu, Wenbin, Sun, Jing, Li, Zhipeng, Sun, Xiao, Chen, Hao, Chen, Shi, Fan, Lingling, You, Liangzhi, Yang, Peng

    Publicado 2021
“…Our results show that between 1984 and 2013, the NLPR shifted 24.93 km northward (the greatest movement was 88.01 km occurring at approximately 133° E) and elevational limits increased by 39.15 m (the greatest movement was 117.08 m occurring at approximately 129° E). While socioeconomic factors (e.g. benefits, policies, irrigation, and mulch) played significant roles in rice area changes, the changes in rice area across the NLPR regions had the strongest positive association with the increase in the previous temperature, indicating that rice cultivation in the NLPR regions has moved to higher latitudes over the 30 year study period to adapt to climate change. …”

  7. What will it take for biofortification to have impact on the ground? Theories of change for three crop-country combinations por Johnson, Nancy L., Guedenet, Hannah, Saltzman, Amy

    Publicado 2015
“…To support program design, implementation, and evaluation in the “delivery” phase of the HarvestPlus program (2014–2018), theories of change were developed for three crop-country combinations—maize in Zambia, beans in Rwanda, and cassava in Nigeria—to describe how HarvestPlus expects to contribute to the outcome of reducing inadequate micronutrient intake among women and children in different agricultural and socioeconomic contexts in which HarvestPlus works. The evidence supporting the assumptions and risks for each link in the pathway is summarized and assessed. …”

“…While such yield increases have been achieved elsewhere and are feasible given the yield potentials in SSA, they require structural changes and substantial agronomic, socioeconomic, and political investments. We estimate that amounts of added nitrogen need to at least triple to achieve such yield improvements, but it is essential that this comes with improved context-specific agronomy.…”
