Epidemiology of porcine cysticercosis in Eastern and Southern Africa: Systematic review and meta-analysis
Publicado 2022“…The highest country-based pooled prevalence was obtained from South Africa (33%, 95% CI: 20–48) and Zambia (22%, 95% CI: 16–29), whereas the lowest pooled prevalence was identified in Madagascar (5%, 95% CI: 4-5) and Rwanda (7%, 95% CI: 6–8). The lack of latrine, traditional pig husbandry practices, unprotected water sources, and increase in age were identified as significant risk factors for the occurrence of porcine cysticercosis in the pooled studies. …”

Yield performance, adaptability and processing qualities of pre-release potato clones under different Rwandan agro-ecologies
Publicado 2022“…This dry matter content was comparable with the dry matter content of local check Kinigi, the most popular varieties variety used for French fries in Rwanda. Based on crisps color, the clones CIP393077.159, CIP393280.64, CIP396018.241, CIP398190.615 showed the same trend as local check Kinigi. …”

Short- and medium-term impact of manual tillage and no-tillage withmulching on banana roots and yields in banana-bean intercroppingsystems in the East African Highlands
Publicado 2015“…The medium-term effect of CMT andNT + M treatments was evaluated at three sites (two in D.R. Congo and one in Rwanda) 30 months afterbanana planting. At two sites out of three, root density profiles indicated lower rooting densities in the top0.1 m of the soil in CMT plots compared with NT + M plots. …”

GIS based gap analysis as a tool for biodiversity conservation optimisation: the IITA cowpea collection
Publicado 2009“…With respect to new collections main focus should be put on countries where so fare no collections have been done, but where the spatial analysis showed high probability of encountering cowpea —Burundi, Eritrea, Equatorial-Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Namibia and Rwanda respectively. In countries with few georeferenced accessions, existing no georeferenced passport data need to be complemented or new sampling should be carried out.…”

Mitochondrial phylogeography and population structure of the cattle tick Rhipicephalus appendiculatus in the African Great Lakes region
Publicado 2018“…In this study we investigated the genetic distribution of R. appendiculatus across agro-ecological zones (AEZs) in the African Great Lakes region to better understand the epidemiology of ECF and elucidate R. appendiculatus evolutionary history and biogeographical colonization in Africa.Sequencing was performed on two mitochondrial genes (cox1 and 12S rRNA) of 218 ticks collected from cattle across six AEZs along an altitudinal gradient in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania. Phylogenetic relationships between tick populations were determined and evolutionary population dynamics models were assessed by mismach distribution.Population genetic analysis yielded 22 cox1 and 9 12S haplotypes in a total of 209 and 126 nucleotide sequences, respectively. …”
