National contributions to climate change mitigation from agriculture: allocating a global target
Publicado 2018“…Globally, agriculture and related land use change contributed about 17% of the world’s anthropogenic GHG emissions in 2010 (8.4 GtCO2e yr−1), making GHG mitigation in the agriculture sector critical to meeting the Paris Agreement’s 2°C goal. This article proposes a range of country-level targets for mitigation of agricultural emissions by allocating a global target according to five approaches to effort-sharing for climate change mitigation: responsibility, capability, equality, responsibility-capability-need and equal cumulative per capita emissions. …”

Minimum emission pathways to triple Africa’s cereal production by 2050
Publicado 2019“…Increases in cereal yields are very slow in most SSA countries and agricultural area expansion is still an important means to keep up with the growing demand, causing losses of forests or grasslands, thereby reducing carbon stocks. At the same time the Paris Conference of the Parties (COP21) Agreement aims to keep global warming below 2 °C or even 1.5 °C by 2100. …”

FTA Highlight No.11 – REDD+: Combating Climate Change with Forest Science
Publicado 2021“…Land-use change, including deforestation, contributes 10–12% of global emissions (IPCC 2019), and the REDD+ framework (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation) has been seen as a way to promote both climate and sustainable development benefits. Now enshrined in the Paris Agreement, the central offer of REDD+ consists of results-based payments to forest-rich countries for protecting forests and avoiding carbon emissions. …”
