Modeling changes in nutrient retention ecosystem service using the InVEST-NDR model: A case study in the Gumara River of Lake Tana Basin, Ethiopia
Published 2025“…Here we (1) examine trends in surface water chemistry, watershed land use/land cover change, and flow alterations; (2) estimate the watershed nutrient delivery ratio (NDR), a metric of watershed nutrient retention, through time; and (3) examine how fishery yields and water hyacinth infestation in Lake Tana at the outlet of the Gumara River change during a period of rapid increase in nutrient export from the Gumara River. …”

The International Plant Diagnostic Network West Africa
Published 2008“…Furthermore, evidence of the increasing failing capacity of Africa to recognize and hence control current, new and emerging diseases is demonstrated by the fact the number of New Disease Reports (NDR) in Africa have rapidly decreased over the last 100 years while they have rapidly increased in Europe (Foresight 2006: Infectious Diseases: preparing for the future Action Plan). …”

Genome-wide gene responses in a transgenic rice line carrying the maize resistance gene Rxo1 to the rice bacterial streak pathogen Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola
Published 2010“…In the former case, Rxo1 appeared to differ from the typical host R genes in that it could lead to HR without activating NDR1. In the latter cases, Rxo1 was able to induce a unique group of WRKY TF genes and a large set of genes encoding PPR and RRM proteins that share the same G-box in their promoter regions with possible functions in post-transcriptional regulation. In conclusion, Rxo1, like most host R genes, was able to trigger HR against Xoc in the heterologous rice plants by activating multiple defensive pathways related to HR, providing useful information on the evolution of plant resistance genes. …”
