  1. Bio-ecology and systematics of the scale insect Stictococcus vayssierei Richard, 1971 (Hemiptera: Stictococcidae), a major pest of root and tuber crops in the Nigero-Congolian fore... por Doumtsop, F.A.R.

“…Field surveys conducted in cassava-based agroecosystems in Central Africa neighborhood from 2002-2015 showed that ARTS was present in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Uganda, at altitude above 277 m. It is likely that the pest is expanding its range and invading new habitat as it occurred not only in the forest, but also in the moist savannah where it was never recorded before. …”

“…All of these involved increasing the number of soil layers from 4 to 14 and the soil depth from 3.0 to 10.8 m. In addition, we found improvements when soil matric potential replaced volumetric water content in the stress equation (the “soil14_psi” experiments), when the critical threshold value for inducing soil moisture stress was reduced (“soil14_p0”), and when plants were able to access soil moisture in deeper soil layers (“soil14_dr*2”). …”

“…Here, we combine paddy-rice methane-flux data from 23 global eddy covariance sites and MODIS remote sensing data with machine learning to 1) evaluate data-driven model performance and variable importance for predicting rice CH4 fluxes; and 2) produce gridded up-scaling estimates of rice CH4 emissions at 5000-m resolution across Monsoon Asia, where ∼87% of global rice area is cultivated and ∼ 90% of global rice production occurs. …”
