Recent decline in suitable environmental conditions for African great apes
Publicado 2012“…To predict the distribution of suitable environmental conditions (SEC) for eight African great ape taxa for a first time period, the 1990s and then project it to a second time period, the 2000s; to assess the relative importance of factors influencing SEC distribution and to estimate rates of SEC loss, isolation and fragmentation over the last two decades.Twenty‐two African great ape range countries. We extracted 15,051 presence localities collected between 1995 and 2010 from 68 different areas surveyed across the African ape range. …”

The importance of tropical tree-ring chronologies for global change research
Publicado 2025“…The number of tropical chronologies has rapidly increased, with ~400 added over the past two decades. Yet, tree-ring studies are biased towards high-elevation locations, with gaps in warmer and wetter climates, on the African continent, and for angiosperm species. …”

Climate change-related growth improvements in a wide niche-breadth tree species across contrasting environments
Publicado 2023“…All populations, independent of site moisture, showed an increase in their intrinsic water-use efficiency in recent decades, a tendency that seemed to be explained by an increase in the photosynthetic rate instead of drought-induced stomatal closure, given that δ18O did not change with time. • Conclusions The absence of drought-induced negative effects on tree growth in a tree species with a wide niche breadth is promising because it might relate to the causal mechanisms tree species possess to face ongoing drought events. …”

Use of near-infrared spectroscopy to estimate physical, anatomical and hydraulic properties of Eucalyptus wood
Publicado 2024“…Tree breeding programs and wood industries require simple, time- and cost-effective techniques to process large volumes of samples. In recent decades, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has been acknowledged as one of the most powerful techniques for wood analysis, making it the most used tool for high-throughput phenotyping. …”

Light acidification in N-fertilized loess soils along a climosequence affected chemical and mineralogical properties in the short-term
Publicado 2018“…Some evidences indicate that N-fertilization of crops decreased pH values of loess soils of the Argentinean Pampas in the last decades. We analyzed the A-horizons of four N-fertilized (F) and non-fertilized (NF) paired soils, developed on similar parent materials, within a climatic sequence (ustic to udic water regimes), and measured: 1) the extent of pH changes, 2) how these changes affected chemical and mineralogical soil properties and 3) how the soils, according to their H+ buffering substances, can react in the future if N-fertilization and acidification continue. …”
