Surveillance of climate-sensitive zoonotic diseases: Leptospirosis at livestock slaughterhouses in three regions of Uganda
Publicado 2023“…Leptospirosis is an important bacterial zoonosis worldwide and is disproportionately associated with low-income settings and with extreme weather events due to climate change. Transmission to humans often occurs when infected rodents and domestic animals contaminate the environment via urine as the bacteria preferentially colonise kidneys. …”

Transforming beef farming systems: Advances in grazing management for sustainable production
Publicado 2023“…The low productivity and high environmental impact associated with beef farming in the region make it necessary to implement sustainable intensification strategies that increase animal yield and mitigate climate change. The study uses the life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology to estimate the carbon footprint (CF) of 20 beef fattening farms in Cordoba Department, estimates the economic valuation of the CF, and identifies the potential beef yield improvements and GHGE mitigation in farms that have implemented high-yield improved pastures. …”

Archetype for implementing Rapid Cycle Genomic Selection (RCGS) in CGIAR-NARES-SME breeding network pipelines: Examples for pure line crops; RTB crops and hybrid crops
Publicado 2024“…Accelerated Breeding Initiative’s aim is to develop a continuous stream of climate-resilient, preferred, inclusive, high-yielding, and nutritious varieties, against the present-day global challenges such as climate change and environmental degradation. We are committed to increasing genetic gains in farmer’s fields by developing and availing to seed systems new varieties that perform well under farmer conditions and have clear advantages in essential traits that can be recognized by farmers and end-users in order to incentivise the farmers to adopt the new varieties in lieu of their familiar varieties, and to do so at a pace that matches the increasingly erratic growing conditions. …”

Impact of land-use changes on soil properties and carbon pools in India: A meta-analysis
Publicado 2022“…Overall, this study showed that soil carbon pools decreased as LUC transitioned from native forestland to other LUs, and it is suggested that adopting crop-production systems that can reduce CO2 emissions from the intensive LUs such as the ones evaluated here could contribute to improvements in soil quality and mitigation of climate change impacts, particularly under Indian agro-climatic conditions.…”
