Wheat pre-anthesis development as affected by photoperiod sensitivity genes (Ppd-1) under contrasting photoperiods
Publicado 2018“…A better understanding of how genetic constitution modulates the developmental responses during pre-anthesis phases would help to maintain or even increase yield potential as temperature increases due to climate change. The photoperiod-sensitive cultivar Paragon, and four near isogenic lines with different combinations of insensitivity alleles (Ppd-A1a, Ppd-B1a, Ppd-D1a or their triple stack) were evaluated under short (12 h) and long (16 h) photoperiods. …”

Droughts drive outbreak dynamics of an invasive forest insect on an exotic host
Publicado 2019“…Understanding the spatio-temporal patterns of eruptive insects can provide insights into the mechanisms driving their dynamics and help predict future responses under climate change. The aims of this study were to analyze the spatio-temporal patterns of outbreaks of the woodwasp Sirex noctilio –a major invasive pest of pines– in an invaded region of South America, to assess the relative importance of density-dependent and density-independent mechanisms on population dynamics, and to identify the primary factors that influence the magnitude of outbreaks. …”

Comparison of field measurement methods of nitrous oxide soil emissions: from the chamber to the vial
Publicado 2020“…Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a greenhouse gas that contributes substantially to global climate change. The N2O soil emissions have a large uncertainty because of its low atmospheric concentration levels and enormous spatial and temporal variability, which hinders its correct field measurement. …”

Morphological and physiological adaptations of pepper plants grafted onto hydric stress tolerant rootstocks under controlled deficit irrigation
Publicado 2024“…Despite the use of several irrigation techniques, from conventional practices to smart technologies, to control the water use in agricultural systems and in protected cultivation in particular, the water scarcity for agricultural production is still a challenge, aggravated by the continuous increase in agricultural product demand and the climate change scenario in which we are involved. The use of tolerant rootstocks to abiotic stresses in pepper crop, particularly to hydric stress, has been found to be a complementary technique to save irrigation water without affecting yields, by means of particular physiological traits of the rootstock which changes the perception stress of the scion. …”

Impact of novel methods and research approaches in plant pathology: Are individual advances sufficient to meet the wider challenges of disease management?
Publicado 2024“…Analysis of the impacts of climate change has been made for single-crop disease studies, but seldom have these been placed in the context of pathogen adaptation, new crops, wild plants, vectors and soil microbes. …”

Leveraging agricultural value chains to enhance tropical tree cover and slow deforestation (leaves): Synthesis report
Publicado 2019“…Slowing the degradation and clearing of tropical forests and increasing tree cover in agricultural and livestock grazing systems could become a critical part of the global solution to climate change. To realize this potential, improvements in crop and livestock yields must be achieved to reconcile the expansion of forest and tree cover with the growing global demand for food, feed, and fiber from the tropics. …”
