Payments discourage coordination in ecosystem services provision: Evidence from behavioral experiments in Southeast Asia
Publicado 2016“…The contribution of synthetic pesticides to closing yield gaps around the world is undeniable; however, their use is also a classic double-edged sword. Beyond the well-recognized social costs (e.g., pollution to soil and water, and health effects both on consumers and other species) there are also private costs on farmers beyond the direct costs of inputs, associated with elevated risks of both acute and chronic damage to farmers' health, and with the destruction of populations of beneficial organisms. …”

Uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of a remote-sensing-based penman–monteith model to meteorological and land surface input variables

Field evaluation of the prophylactic effect of an isometamidium sustained-release device against trypanosomiasis in cattle
Publicado 1998“…In order to compare the prophylactic effect provided by a poly(D,L-lactide) sustained-release device (SRD) containing isometamidium (ISMM; Trypamidium) with that provided by the classical im injection of the drug, a field trial was carried out at the Madina Diassa Ranch in Mali, beginning in November 1995. …”

A simplified cost-effective method for area-wide testing of trypanocidal drug sensitivity of T. congolense in mice
Publicado 2001“…Many populations of T congolense and T brucei may be isolated directly by inoculation of mice with blood of infected cattle, without the need for carrying liquid nitrogen to the field Mice may then be used for testing trypanocidal drug sensitivity. Classically this involves using multiple drug doses to determine the dose required to cure 50% of animals (CD50), requiring at least 30 mice per drug. …”

Factors associated with acquisition of human infective and animal infective trypanosome infections in domestic livestock in Western Kenya
Publicado 2011“…Although cattle are the dominant reservoir of trypanosome infection it is unlikely that targeted treatment of only visibly diseased cattle will achieve sustainable interruption of transmission for either animal infective or zoonotic human infective trypanosomiasis, since most infections were detected in cattle that did not exhibit classical clinical signs of trypanosomiasis. Pigs were also found to be reservoirs of infection for T. b. rhodesiense and present a risk to local communities.…”

Diversity of fruit fly (Diptera: Tephritidae) Species in French Guiana: their main host plants and associated parasitoids during the period 19942003 and prospects for management
Publicado 2013“…Among them, Diachasmimorpha longicaudata (Ashmead) (Hymenoptera,Braconidae) is an exotic species and was introduced into French Guiana in collaboration withBrazilian authorities (EMBRAPA) in 2000 and 2001 within the framework of a classical biologicalcontrol program. Conclusion. Our data provide baseline information about the tephritid species ofeconomic importance present in French Guiana and assist in developing potential future controlprograms of both the B. carambolae and Anastrepha species in the Amazon Basin. …”
