  1. Application of geographically weighted regression to improve grain yield prediction from unmanned aerial system imagery by Haghighattalab, Atena, Crain, Jared, Mondal, Suchismita, Rutkoski, Jessica, Singh, Ravi Prakash, Poland, Jesse

    Published 2017
“…The UAS consisted of a modified consumer‐grade camera mounted on a low‐cost unmanned aerial vehicle and was deployed multiple times throughout the growing season in yield trials of advanced breeding lines with irrigated and drought‐stressed environments at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. We assessed data quality and evaluated the potential to predict grain yield on a plot level by examining the relationships between information derived from UAS imagery and the grain yield. …”

  2. Dataset of historic and modern bread and durum wheat cultivar performance under conventional and reduced tillage with full and reduced irrigation by Honsdorf, Nora, Mulvaney, Michael J., Singh, Ravi P., Ammar, Karim, Govaerts, Bram, Verhulst, Nele

    Published 2022
“…Fourteen CIMMYT bread (Triticum aestivum) and thirteen durum (Triticum turgidum) wheat genotypes, created between 1964 and 2011, were tested for yield and agronomic performance at CIMMYT's experimental station near Ciudad Obregon, Mexico, during nine seasons. The genotypes were subjected to different tillage and irrigation treatments which consisted of conventional and permanent raised beds with full and reduced irrigation. …”

    Published 2022
“…Las generaciones filiales de las cruzas se obtuvieron alternadamente en CIMMYT-Batán, Estado de México y CIMMYT-CENEB, Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, hasta obtener las Familias F3 y F4. …”

  4. Hyperspectral reflectance-derived relationship matrices for genomic prediction of grain yield in wheat by Krause, Margaret R., González-Pérez, Lorena, Crossa, José, Pérez-Rodríguez, Paulino, Montesinos-López, Osval, Singh, Ravi P., Dreisigacker, Susanne, Poland, Jesse, Rutkoski, Jessica, Sorrells, Mark, Gore, Michael A., Mondal, Suchismita

    Published 2019
“…We utilized an airplane equipped with a hyperspectral camera to phenotype five differentially managed treatments of the yield trials conducted by the Bread Wheat Improvement Program of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) at Ciudad Obregón, México over four breeding cycles. We observed that single-kernel models using hyperspectral reflectance-derived relationship matrices performed similarly or superior to marker- and pedigree-based genomic selection models when predicting within and across environments. …”

  5. Nitrous oxide (N2O) flux responds exponentially to nitrogen fertilizer in irrigated wheat in the Yaqui Valley, Mexico by Millar, Neville, Urreac, Abisaí, Kahmark, Kevin, Shcherbak, Iurii, Robertson, G. Philip, Ortíz Monasterio, Jose Iván

    Published 2018
“…We used static chambers to measure N2O fluxes from spring wheat at five N fertilizer rates (0, 80, 160, 240, and 280 kg N ha−1) during two growing seasons at CIMMYT in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. Average daily fluxes were between 1.9 ± 0.5 and 13.4 ± 2.8 g N2O-N ha−1, with lower emissions at N rates below those that maximized yield, and substantially higher emissions at N rates beyond maximum yield; this exponential response is consistent with crops in temperate regions. …”
