  1. A global-temporal analysis on Phytophthora sojae resistance-gene efficacy por McCoy, Austin, Belange, Richard, Bradley, Carl, Cerritos-Garcia, Daniel, Garnica, Vinicius, Giesler, Loren, Grijalba, Pablo Enrique, Guillin, Eduardo Alejandro, Henriquez, Maria, Kim, Yong Min, Malvick, Dean, Matthiesen, Rashelle, Mideros, Santiago, Noel, Zachary, Robertson, Alison, Roth, Mitchell, Schmidt, Clarice, Smith, Damon, Sparks, Adam, Telenko, Darcy, Tremblay, Vanessa, Wally, Owen, Chilvers, Martin

    Publicado 2024
“…Pathotype data was collected from 5121 isolates of P. sojae, derived from 29 surveys conducted between 1990 and 2019 across the United States, Argentina, Canada, and China. This systematic review shows a loss of efficacy of specific Rps genes utilized for disease management and a significant increase in the pathotype diversity of isolates over time. …”

  4. Single-step BLUP with varying genotyping effort in open-pollinated Picea glauca por Ratcliffe, Blaise, El-Dien, Omnia Gamal, Cappa, Eduardo Pablo, Porth, Ilga, Klapste, Jaroslav, El-Kassaby, Yousry A., Chen, Charles

    Publicado 2017
“…In this study, two traits with diverse heritabilities [tree height (HT) and wood density (WD)] were assessed at various levels of family genotyping efforts (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100%) from a population of white spruce (Picea glauca) consisting of 1694 trees from 214 open-pollinated families, representing 43 provenances in Québec, Canada. The results revealed that HBLUP bivariate analysis is effective in reducing the known bias in heritability estimates of open-pollinated populations, as it exposes hidden relatedness, potential pedigree errors, and inbreeding. …”

  5. Efficient genomics-based ‘end-to-end’ selective tree breeding framework por El-Kassaby, Yousry A., Cappa, Eduardo Pablo, Chen, Charles, Ratcliffe, Blaise, Porth, Ilga M.

    Publicado 2024
“…The proof-of-concept study involved a 40-year-old spruce OP testing population growing on three sites in British Columbia, Canada, clearly demonstrating our method’s superiority in capturing most of the available genetic gains in a substantially reduced timeline relative to the traditional approach. …”

  6. Optimizing a regional white spruce tree improvement program: SNP genotyping for enhanced breeding values, genetic diversity assessment, and estimation of pollen contamination por Galeano, Esteban, Cappa, Eduardo Pablo, Bousquet, Jean, Thomas, Barb R.

    Publicado 2023
“…Our study explores the impact of utilizing 5308 SNP markers to genotype seed orchard parents (166), progeny in progeny trials (667), and seedlot orchard seedlings (780), to simultaneously enhance variance components, breeding values, genetic diversity estimates, and pollen flow in the Region I white spruce (Picea glauca) breeding program in central Alberta (Canada). We compared different individual tree mixed models, including pedigree-based (ABLUP), genomic-based (GBLUP), and single-step pedigree-genomicbased (ssGBLUP) models, to estimate variance components and predict breeding values for the height and diameter at breast height traits. …”
