Among its key objectives, the project will develop a coordinated inter-institutional framework, including legal and administrative strategies to regulate access and ensure fair benefit-sharing. It will also focus on training key stakeholders (government, indigenous communities, the private sector, and academia) to effectively manage genetic resources. Additionally, the project will promote regional cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries to facilitate experience-sharing in ABS implementation. These actions are expected to contribute to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Venezuela. El proyecto "Apoyo al Desarrollo de Marcos Legales e Institucionales sobre el Acceso a Recursos Genéticos y la Distribución de Beneficios en Venezuela" tiene como objetivo fortalecer las capacidades locales para la implementación de un régimen de acceso a recursos genéticos y conocimientos tradicionales en línea con el Protocolo de Nagoya y el Convenio sobre la Diversidad Biológica (CBD). Entre sus alcances, el proyecto desarrollará un marco interinstitucional coordinado que incluya estrategias legales y administrativas para regular el acceso y la distribución equitativa de beneficios. También se enfocará en la capacitación de actores clave (gobierno, comunidades indígenas, sector privado y academia) para la gestión efectiva de estos recursos. Asimismo, se fomentará la cooperación regional con países de América Latina y el Caribe para el intercambio de experiencias en la implementación de sistemas ABS (Acceso y Distribución de Beneficios).
